In Kunming and some other parts of Yunnan insects are a culinary delicacy, or standard fare. Many markets, restaurants and food stalls sell edible insects.
Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture is in the south of Yunnan Province, inhabiting the far southern reaches of China near the neighboring countries of Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.
