Announcement No. 7 of 2024

With the approval of the State Council, the National Immigration Administration has decided to further expand the implementation of the 144-hour visa-free transit policy. The announcement is as follows:

From the date of this announcement, the 144-hour visa-free transit policy will be implemented at Zhengzhou Airport in Henan Province, with the stay area limited to the administrative region of Henan Province. Additionally, the stay area for the 144-hour visa-free transit policy in Yunnan Province will be expanded from Kunming to include the administrative regions of nine cities (prefectures): Kunming, Lijiang, Yuxi, Pu'er, Chuxiong, Dali, Xishuangbanna, Honghe, and Wenshan. Furthermore, three additional ports of entry will be designated for the 144-hour visa-free transit policy: Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, Lijiang Sanyi International Airport, and Mohan Railway Port.

Citizens from 54 countries, including Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Monaco, Russia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania, Belarus, Norway, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar, holding valid international travel documents and confirmed onward tickets with a departure date and seat within 144 hours, can transit through Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport to a third country (region) and stay in the administrative region of Henan Province for up to 144 hours without a visa. For transits through Yunnan to a third country (region), travelers can enter and exit through any of the following ports: Kunming Changshui International Airport, Lijiang Sanyi International Airport, or Mohan Railway Port, and stay within the administrative regions of Kunming, Lijiang, Yuxi, Pu'er, Chuxiong, Dali, Xishuangbanna, Honghe, and Wenshan for up to 144 hours without a visa (those who qualify for visa exemption agreements signed with China or unilateral visa exemption policies can follow the respective regulations).

During their stay, travelers can engage in tourism, business, visits, and family reunions. Activities such as work, study, and news reporting still require prior approval and appropriate visas.
