Yunnan: A Land of Blessed Living and Ideal Retreat_01

What defines a beautiful life? While everyone may have their own interpretation and needs, there is a shared understanding that a truly fulfilling life encompasses both material enjoyment and spiritual satisfaction. This, we can all agree on. Saying that Yunnan is a land of blessed living and ideal retreat is not just a poetic expression, but one backed by facts.

Let us set aside ancient stories like Emperor Wu of Han's colorful dreams of Yunnan, the tales of Hilton and Shangri-La, or the journeys of Xu Xiake and Joseph Rock. Even in the past few years, the popular TV drama "Meet Yourself" has captured only glimpses of life in Dali, yet it has already drawn so many visitors to the region that Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake have become overrun with crowds, prompting netizens to exclaim, "Half of China has gone to Yunnan."

In truth, the "places with the wind" of "Meet Yourself" are abundant throughout Yunnan. No matter where you are, when you feel cold, hot, or weary, why wait for the wind to come to you? Instead, chase the wind, and embark on a spontaneous journey to Yunnan. Here, you can satisfy both your material and spiritual needs, indulging in the pleasures of this land—its fresh air, delightful food, restorative health, and long life, all contributing to a life of great happiness and prosperity.

Living in Yunnan: A Paradise for Enjoying a Blessed Life

What defines a beautiful life? While everyone may have their own interpretation and needs, it is universally agreed that a truly fulfilling life encompasses both material comfort and spiritual satisfaction. Saying that Yunnan is a place for blessed living is not just a poetic notion—it is supported by facts.

The first essential need for a beautiful life is a favorable environment. There's a saying that goes, "Cold waves lost, Yunnan won." While cold fronts sweep across the country, Yunnan remains impervious, thanks to the quasi-static front of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, which blocks the southward-moving cold air. In the winter, the central part of Yunnan still enjoys gentle breezes, lush greenery, and flowers in full bloom—its climate is like a caress from nature, warm and inviting! Particularly in the rich and beautiful Qiujia region, I have never known a cold front to visit the banks of the Jinsha and Niulan Rivers.

If we were to select a province in China where spring lasts all year, it would undoubtedly be Yunnan, and uniquely so. Stretching across 960 kilometers from north to south and traversing the Tropic of Cancer and the Hengduan Mountains, Yunnan encompasses a diverse range of climates. With a vertical drop of over 6,600 meters in elevation, Yunnan hosts the cold, temperate, and tropical zones all within one province. From the snow-capped peaks of Meili Snow Mountain to the tropical rainforests of Xishuangbanna, it offers a broad spectrum of climatic types, much like a climate version of a "Manchu-Han Imperial Feast." Yunnan’s low latitude, high altitude, and unique geography result in mild summers in the northwest and northeast, and pleasant autumns and winters in the southwest and southern regions, with average temperatures around 20°C.

The central region enjoys year-round springlike weather, with frost-free days exceeding 240 annually. In the northeast and northwest, the summers are cool, making Yunnan a true haven for escaping the heat. In the south and southwest, winters are warm, making it an ideal escape from the cold. "No severe winters, no scorching summers" perfectly captures Yunnan’s climate, and "blue skies, white clouds, and fresh air" are the hallmarks of its pristine environment. Living in Yunnan means enjoying natural air-conditioning year-round, experiencing the "VIP lounge" of the earth, and flying first-class in nature’s own cabin.

Yunnan's air is remarkably fresh, with a forest coverage rate of about 60%. Living here is like being immersed in a natural oxygen bar from the moment you arrive. The air quality is excellent, with over 99% of the days marked by clean air, and negative ion levels in some areas reaching tens of thousands per cubic centimeter. Every breath you take is a "recharge" for your life, an "investment" in your health. In terms of breathing in fresh air, we have truly achieved common prosperity.

Yunnan is a land of endless wonders. As one of the world’s 36 biodiversity hotspots, it offers a high degree of travel accessibility, where every step you take unveils new scenery. Yunnan is home to nearly every type of terrain on earth, excluding oceans and deserts. It is renowned as the Kingdom of Plants, the Kingdom of Animals, and the World’s Garden. Although it lacks an ocean, Yunnan has nine major plateau lakes and a multitude of water systems. Though it lacks deserts, it features sand forests, earth forests, and stone forests. In Yunnan, you can admire snow-capped mountains, rivers, forests, seas of clouds, birds, and beasts; explore caves, sinkholes, canyons, waterfalls, rare flowers, and exotic plants; and marvel at the grand mountains and unique waters of eastern Yunnan, the lush greenery of southern Yunnan, and the enchanting beauty of western Yunnan’s soft, serene moments. Everywhere you look, there is a new wonder to behold.

Rather than enjoying such beauty alone, Yunnan hopes to share this exceptional environment with countless people who yearn for a better life. Recently, a “Grandma Maizi” from Anyang, Henan, became an internet sensation. In a live-streaming session, this woman in her 60s shared her heartfelt wish: “After I finish harvesting the wheat, I’ll head south to Yunnan, maybe to Xishuangbanna, and spend the winter there.” Her words, “After I finish harvesting the wheat, I’ll head south,” touched the hearts of countless people. In these words, there is the power of the land, filled with a longing for a beautiful life. Across China, there are countless people who have devoted half a lifetime to the land and various professions. Now, they are ready to enjoy the blessings of life. For them, living in Yunnan—escaping the heat of summer, the chill of winter, and finding peace in the open sky and green mountains—is the perfect way to slow down, relax, and live fully.
